That's it--- really.
No-- I mean it- I need to get some neat ideas for a Melange Gitan logo--- the translation is Gypsy Mixture, it conjures all sorts of lovely imagery. I am juts not as savvy on the comupter to create such a logo. Ideas?

And the naming thing is like this-- I dont ever really anticipate performing amongst fluent francophones ( although if we could swing up to Montreal for something that would be amazing!), and I had to think of the happenstance problem that comes with the need for rolling offa the tongue- catchiness, as well as pronounce-ability for announcers, etc. I had nightmares of people not being able to rponounce it or it being too alien for them to want to be interested in if they saw a flier. does that make sense? i thought the point was expressed--- and i certainly hope i am not being inconsiderate or a dumdum by not changing it! I did my best! :)
ut- yes-- please make suggestions as they come! -

Being French Canadian with a maiden name of VACHON, I was the laughing stock of my french friends. VACHE translates to COW sooooo.....I was cow pie, cow manure, cow pile....anything pertaining to cow. MOOOO
I think you're right. There will not be too many people who will know the gramatically correct way the name should be on paper. It looks cool, sounds great, and you have the general idea and the energy associated with it. The average Joe will be none the wiser.
Now, back to the planning of my bovine inspired bellydance costume. Moooooo -

And can't "gitan" be used as an adjective, like "français"? In the sense of "Gypsy Mixture" or "Gypsy Fusion" rather than "Mixture of Gypsies"? As for pronunciation, we just have to make sure our announcers know to use soft Gs -- Mélanzhhhh Zhhhitan -- rather than hard ones. Much sexier that way. ;-)
Anyway, back on topic, I'm up for trying to design a logo. I'm not very graphically creative, but I can give it a shot!

I've realized the grammatical implications the name could have but I think it's funny in a good way. None of us are really french and we all bring a mixture of talents to the group. So I think of the translation of Melange Gitan, well, it sounds like a recipe to me. We're all in a pot being stirred around. So there's that meaning too! -
